IRONMAN Foundation Ambassador, Sam Cardona, gives back to his vibrant home land of Puerto Rico and encourages his fellow triathletes to join him this spring to race IRONMAN 70.3 Puerto Rico and attend the service project the day after the race. As part of IRONMAN 70.3 Puerto Rico and in partnership with Buena Vibra Foundation, the IRONMAN Foundation will return to the race community of San Juan and will continue rebuilding efforts following the aftermath of Hurricane Maria.

The IRONMAN Foundation® will partner with Rebuilding Together Petaluma and Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation for a service project, presented by HOKA ONE ONE, to build tiny houses for Santa Rosa residents still displaced by the Tubbs Wildfires that ripped through the region last October. In addition, an IRONMAN Foundation Community 5k is scheduled on Sunday morning, July 29 to support the Santa Rosa Parks Foundation. The IRONMAN Foundation will distribute $111,000 in charitable giveback to non-profit initiatives and groups in the Santa Rosa region in conjunction with the 2018 IRONMAN® 70.3® Santa Rosa triathlon taking place on Saturday, July 28.

To commemorate the 20th year of IRONMAN® Lake Placid, the IRONMAN Foundation® will distribute more than $110,000 in charitable giveback to non-profit initiatives and groups in the greater Lake Placid region in conjunction with the 2018 IRONMAN Lake Placid triathlon taking place on Sunday, July 22. This year’s grant funding brings the total giveback to more than $1.6 million in the region since inception.

The IRONMAN Foundation® will partner with Paradox Sports to host an adaptive rock climbing clinic for visually impaired athletes. Paradox Sports, a non-profit organization based in Boulder, Colorado provides youth, adults and military veterans with physical disabilities the opportunity to get outside. The service project taking place on Friday, June 8 at Boulder Rock Club will bring together Paradox Sports, IRONMAN Foundation Ambassadors, and IRONMAN® athletes and volunteers. Paradox Sports will introduce nine visually impaired athletes and IRONMAN athlete volunteers to the sport of adaptive climbing, providing hands-on experience climbing and guiding.

At IRONMAN Texas 2018, the IRONMAN Foundation partnered with Rebuilding Together Houston to rebuild two homes affected by Hurricane Harvey. When Harvey’s record flood waters devastated much of southeast Texas, the IRONMAN community stepped up to support our Humanitarian Relief Effort Campaign. Athletes painted the exterior and the interior of the homes of Ms. Dorothy and Mr. Ronald prior to tackling 140.6 miles that weekend.

The IRONMAN Foundation® announced multiple give back initiatives in conjunction with the IRONMAN and IRONMAN® 70.3® events taking place in Santa Rosa that will award more than $75,000 in grant funding this year. Initiatives will focus around supporting military families and wildfire recovery efforts. This year’s grant funding brings the total giveback to more than $200,000 in the Santa Rosa region. In 2018, the IRONMAN Foundation will distribute more than $1.7 million in grant funding to support the needs of IRONMAN race communities across North America.

For the IRONMAN Foundation and its 100-plus athletes, race week at the 2018 Memorial Herman IRONMAN Texas North America Championship was more than just toeing the start line early Saturday morning—they created real change that will be felt in The Woodlands’ community long after they crossed the finish line.

The IRONMAN Foundation® announced that it will award a $35,000 Humanitarian Relief Effort grant to Rebuilding Together Houston. The grant will help restore the homes of two seniors, Ms. Dorothy and Mr. Ronald, who live in Harris County and were impacted by Hurricane Harvey. The grant will also provide athletes with the opportunity to help restore their homes during a service project on April 26. Collectively, they will complete exterior work on Ms. Dorothy’s home and interior work on Mr. Ronald’s home. In addition, the IRONMAN Foundation will distribute $140,000 in charitable giveback to non-profit initiatives and groups in the greater Harris County and Montgomery County regions in conjunction with the 2018 Memorial Hermann IRONMAN® North American Championship Texas triathlon taking place on Saturday, April 28.
